We went on our annual MLB summer trip this weekend...to Pittsburgh!! The City of Bridges...they have 446 bridges! more than any other city in the WORLD. And I have to admit, it is really a pretty city. I love all of the bridges and rivers and old architecture.

LOVED this stadium...maybe one of my favorites and let me say, The Pirates have some great fans! This game went to the 11th inning and it was 63 degrees and raining. And so many people stuck it out!!
We went to the Carnegie Science center which was amazing! (Puts the Orlando Science center to shame and it is a great one.) One of our favorite areas was the Sports Works building where T could be a human yo yo, do gymnastics on the giant trampoline, test his time in a sprint, record his fast ball time, test his reaction time as a hockey goalie and more.
One day we just strolled around the city and it was so perfect! 70 degrees and breezy...and T and happened upon this huge fountain in Point Park. The water was cold!

We also visited The National Aviary - over 600 species of birds here. The biggest aviary in the country. I loved it! (sis, we got you something special from the gift shop!)
Of course with rivers everywhere, there were these huge docking chains everywhere too so T took the opportunity to be a monkey!

Oh and the aviary has this cool area with penguins where you can go underground and pop your head up and be eye to eye with them...loved that!
And of course, Pittsburgh means polish food! We had kielbasa, 3 kinds of pierogies, some kind of noodle dish and some potato pancakes. Real "stick to your ribs" kinda fare!!
T and I found the indoor hotel pool one day. We Florida souls thought their northern-sized pool was quaint. Bless their hearts. :)

And really?!? I live in the land of tollways but check this one out on the Ohio-PN turnpike. The roads were awful yet we still had to pay $5.90!!! Crazy.

It was a great mini-vaca, some terrific baseball and good family time...making memories!

That really sounds like a great trip. You don't usually think Pittsburgh for a vacation, but it looks like a lot of fun. Also, the Pirates were my second favorite team when I was younger. My favorite pitcher was Elroy Face. Met him once, also. You older readers might remember him. Thte aviary looked cool - yes, I know AW would have freaked. Love those "mingos".
