We went to our first Sox game in Fenway! Check it off the bucket list, baby!!
Our Bosox lost 9 to 7 against the Blue Jays... :(
T's favorite player - Jacoby Ellsbury! Do you see these amazing seats we had?!?! We actually had tickets for seats in the right field box BUT when we were watching practice before the game, some fans who had seats EIGHT rows up from First base had two extra seats and said we could sit in them...SCORE! We even got on TV once...
Nothing like Independence Day in Fenway!!
We got to the ballpark early and got to watch Big Papi tossing the ball with his young son...

OKAY....these next pics need an introduction! Dan took me to one of the best french restaurants in the country on Sunday night....called L'Espalier, located on Boylston Street in Back Bay. We ordered the Summer Degustation Menu with the accompanying Wine tasting Journey. It was a FOUR hour dining EXPERIENCE. And yes, it was an experience - one that will certainly be rare in our lifetime. It was not just a dinner. And because it was pretty fancy, I tried to take my pics discreetly - so apologies for some of the poor photo quality below! :)
The Grand Formage - the cheese service. It was actually the fifth course served with a yummy port.
Dan had the duck for his fourth course...served with a pinot noir
I had the prime rib with escargot and bone barrow. Served with a cabernet.
The halibut was the third course...halibut served over gnocchi and mussels with pea puree and a truffled egg yolk. Served with a chardonnay.
The second course was foie gras with a nut and seed biscuit, bing cherry and rhubarb foam. Served with a really nice Chenin Blanc. (probably our fave wine pairing of the night)
Butter poached maine lobster with a ham and pea emulsion was the first course of the night...served with champagne.
Dessert was a hodge podge of tastes...raspberry ice cream, caramel and hazelnut gateau, and more...paired with a really nice sparkling red wine.
Of course there were other things that I did not get pics of....those little extras that are just part of dining at a french restaurant like this. There were some goat cheese tarts with kohlrabi hors'doerves, an amuse bouche which was a fingerling potato with salmon mousse and salmon roe and dill, a delicious bread basket, and even a "petit fours" sampling at the END of the meal, AFTER dessert! It was decadent and wonderful and a very unqiue special experience for us. Thank you to my sweet husband for humoring me when it comes to these kinds of things!!
So this was one of the views from our hotel room....do you see Fenway to the middle left? That's right! Awesome...
And this was the view directly across the River Charles...looking at the MIT dome and to the right, downtown and the historic district. We got a GREAT hotel room....it was actually a funny story. We reserved an average hotel room - we PAID for an average hotel room....but we got a hotel room on the concierge level on the 27the floor with a perfect view of the city and the fireworks on the 4th. How, you ask? Well, it turns out that a man named Daniel MURPHY reserved and paid for that fancy room....but the front desk staff thought we said MURPHY when we checked in and not MURPHREE. So we got the room...and THEN when the original Daniel Murphy tried to get into our room, the manager was so distraught for us that not only did we get to keep the fancy room and view....we also got a complimentary dinner for two at the hotel restaurant! :)
And this was our view of the Fireworks Show Monday night...right from our room. It was amazing...and really, no city puts on a Fourth of July show like Boston anyway!!
Farewell to one of our favorite cities...til' we meet again! :)

OMG! I am soooo jealous. Glad you two had fun.
Sis- looks awesome and I'm very impressed with your great view, the game and the awesome seats, and the amazing meal (even more impressed that you can remember and spell the names of the food you ate!) We loved our time with T in fun Orlando- let's do it again soon!

What a fantastic trip, MB! I'd be willing to bet that Beantown is your favorite destination now. So envious of the "experience" dining at L'espalier - sounds awesome. That was really nice of Dan. About the Bosox though - they went on to beat the Blue Jays the next two games of the series.
